Students Gain Practical Experience and Insight on HIV/AIDS Field Study
“When I say ‘remoho’ you say ‘seboza’,” calls Leslie Jo Shelton, as she bounds to the front of the room. “Remoho,” she calls. “Seboza,” the assembled students and faculty respond. She has just employed a greeting in the Setswana language to get the attention of a crowd gathered to hear about Ohio University’s pilot HIV/AIDS field study in Gaborone, Botswana.
Ohio Students Hone Spanish and English Teaching Skills in Ecuador
This summer ten Ohio University students traveled to Cuenca, Ecuador to develop skills in teaching English as a Foreign Language through a new study abroad program sponsored by Latin American Studies and the Department of Linguistics. The six-week intensive program allows students to work toward their Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certification while also improving their Spanish skills.
