Building Global Partners: The Global Services Program (GSP)

Ohio University (OHIO)

The OHIO Global Services Program supports higher education capacity building through the provision of external evaluation, curriculum development, professional development in a wide variety of disciplines, online learning and online course design and educational consultation services to partner institutions. These projects promote the expansion of high quality academic programs, mentor faculty in partner institutions and support the 'internationalization' of faculty from the United States.

Global Services Program


Program Mission: Ohio University encourages its faculty and staff to explore opportunities for personal and institutional growth with an international perspective (University International Council). This global point of view is reinforced in the institutional vision through the establishment of goals and strategies related to world prominence, and the Center for International Studies’ focus on global outreach and service. The Center for International Studies’ Global Services Program seeks to enhance the institution’s image internationally through increasing international student enrollment and strengthening its base of worldwide partnerships through services to institutions and agencies in other countries.

OHIO GSP Partnership Programs in Jordan
  • ICTE for Teachers (Certificate Program): University of Jordan
    Program Goals, audience, and related information:

    The ICTE Certificate program provides an opportunity for teachers in primary and secondary education to build and enhance capacities in the use of technology for teaching and learning in educational settings. The program is committed to preparing teachers to effectively use instructional design models to integrate technology into course content to meet the needs of today’s digital learner using open source applications and tools and the completion of a final project.

    The program is designed for teachers and those aspiring to become teachers. A total of 24 credit hours of coursework, including a culminating digital graduation project, are required. Program completion generally takes 3 semesters.

    Program courses and major assessments are aligned with ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) and the NETS/NETS* standards (National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers and National Educational Technology Standards for Students).


  • ICTE for Teachers (Master’s Program): Al Albayt University
    Program Goals, audience, and related information:

    The Master’s program in ICTE provides an opportunity for teachers in primary and secondary education to build and enhance capacities in the use of technology for teaching and learning in educational settings. The program is committed to preparing teachers to effectively use instructional design models to integrate technology into course content to meet the needs of today’s digital learner. This program is more in depth in the use of technology for the building of web pages using industry standard software such as Dreamweaver, HTML 5, Flash, Adobe Creative Suite, e-learning environments and advanced instructional design.

    The program is designed for teachers and those aspiring to become teachers. A total of 33 credit hours of coursework, including a culminating digital graduation project, are required. Program completion generally takes 4 semesters.

    Program courses and major assessments are aligned with ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) and the NETS for Coaches standards (National Educational Technology Standards for Technology Facilitators and Coaches).


  • Executive MBA (Master’s Program): Mutah University
    Program Goals, audience, and related information:

    The Executive MBA Master’s program is designed to explore the application of business theories in a Jordanian context. The program examines today’s issues and trends in the market as well as accounting needs, global management, marketing and human resource management.

    The program is designed business leaders and those aspiring to become business leaders. A total of 27 credit hours of coursework, including a culminating digital graduation project, are required. Program completion generally takes 3 semesters.


  • IT for School Administrators (Certificate Program): Mutah University
    Program Goals, audience, and related information:

    The IT for School Administrator’s Certificate supports the school administrator in the implementation of technology and the strategic planning of the integration of technology for effective instructional practice. The development of formative and summative assessments for the purpose of data-driven decision making will be a strong aspect of this program.

    The program is designed business leaders and those aspiring to become business leaders. A total of 24 credit hours of coursework, including a culminating digital graduation project, are required. Program completion generally takes 3 semesters.

  • Special Education: Gifted and Talented (Master’s Program): Al Balqa Applied University
    Program Goals, audience, and related information:

    The Special Education: Gifted and Talented program provides educators and educational leaders an opportunity to build and enhance capacities in the area of gifted and talented service in local, regional, state, national, and international educational settings. The program is committed to preparing educators to provide leadership that enhances the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of educational institutions, and promotes improved academic outcomes for all students but especially those students identified as gifted and talented within schools.

    The program is designed for educational leaders and those aspiring to become educational leaders. Depending on the Track (1, 2, 3) a total of 36 credit hours of coursework, including a culminating (research) graduation project, are required. Program completion generally takes 4 semesters.

    The program follows the national standards for the preparation of teachers of the Gifted and Talented.


OHIO GSP Partnership Programs in Saudi Arabia (KSA)
  • Educational Leadership (Master’s Program) Al Baha University
    Program Goals, audience, and related information:

    To provide an opportunity for educators and educational leaders to build and enhance capacities in educational administration, policy, and research for service in local, regional, state, national, and international educational settings. The program is committed to preparing students to provide leadership that enhances the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of educational institutions, and promotes improved academic outcomes for all students.

    The program is designed for educational leaders and those aspiring to become educational leaders. A total of 42 credit hours of coursework, including a culminating (research) graduation project, are required. Program completion generally takes 4 semesters.

    Program courses and major assessments are aligned with NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education) and ELCC (Educational Leadership Constituent Council).


  • ICTE for Teachers (Master’s Program): Al Baha University
    Program Goals, audience, and related information:

    The Master’s program in ICTE provides an opportunity for teachers in primary and secondary education to build and enhance capacities in the use of technology for teaching and learning in educational settings. The Second Scientific Symposia: Education, Future Prospects, Spring 2013

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mishari bin Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Governor of Al Baha Area, KSA, Rector Prof. Dr. Saad bin Mohammed Ahariqi opened the Second Scientific Symposia on March, 2013, under the supervision of College of Education in partnership with the Ohio University, U.S. Under the slogan (Education . Future Prospects) that took place for two days at the Hall of Prince Faisal Bin Mohammed Bin Saud, Directorate General of Education in Al Baha University, in the presence of Arabian Education and Training Group (AETG), deans, faculty members, and students from graduate programs of the college.

The host of the event welcomed a number of professors from Ohio University and Saudi universities. The event contained four scientific sessions, beginning with the first session seminar: Recent Trends in Gifted by HE Prof. Dr. Abdullah Aljghyeman then followed by the second session entitled: Tools and Techniques to Develop Online Courses by HE Dr. Scott Robinson, followed by the third session of the symposium, entitled: Application of the Comprehensive School Model in the Gulf of Professor Dr. Abdulrahman Clinton. The event was concluded with the fourth session, entitled: Strategic Planning, Implementation and Use of Evaluation as a Guide for Effective Application, presented by Professor Dr. Douglas Franklin from Ohio University.


KSA Linguistic Students Visitation to OU Campus, Summer 2013

Ohio University is pleased to welcome 10 graduate students from Al Baha University who have been awarded a fellowship for an exploration of US culture, leadership activities and linguistics method of instruction. The fellowship will take place from June 21st, 2013 to July 2nd, 2013 with the OU Linguistics Department and will include cultural excursions in and around the OU campus so that they may fully experience the English Language.

This program is covered and performed as part of the partnership between OU's Global Services Program, Arabian Education and Training Group (AETG), and Al Baha University -KSA. During OU fellowship Saudi students will reside in OU campus.
